Dear Lancaster Republicans,

Thank you for the fantastic turn out last Saturday at our membership meeting and pancake breakfast. Nothing like a hot cooked breakfast to get everyone to come out!

We were all really disappointed that Congressman Wittman's campaign manager was unable to join us. Rest assured that I have been in touch with the congressman and conveyed our membership's frustration. I also shared our frank discussions about current issues - specifically the mounting deficit and the unsecured border.

The Congressman has been very responsive - We will be joined at our next meeting by one of Mr. Wittman's staff and the Congressman plans to join us via zoom at the March meeting. He has also scheduled a call directly with me tomorrow. If you have specific statements or questions which you'd like me to convey or ask, please email me separately. I will do my best to get all of your comments through.

I need to stress some important points about our committee's purpose, that we need to keep in mind.

· The main purpose of our committee is to find and support Republican candidates.

· We are not an activist committee, but we can be activists individually.

· Please write letters to the editor and call your representatives.

· We run the risk of fracturing our committee if we start sending out statements from the entire committee.

· Let's face it; we ARE passionate about politics and need to and should communicate our concerns with our representatives regularly and often.

· This chairman and executive committee highly encourage you to be informed about local, state, and national politics, AND to communicate your concerns with our representatives.

· If you re-elect me in February, I will work on ways to bring more information to you about current bills and issues - and ways to advocate.

Here are some very good sources for information (thank you Lisa Smith for compiling this)

The Virginia General Assembly Site:
https://virginiageneralassembly.gov/
A great overview of the General Assembly with links to bills and other important things in VA.

The Legislative Information System:
https://lis.virginia.gov/
This site can be linked to from the General Assembly site too. It has a wealth of information on what bills are in session and where they are. You can search by member to find their committees and bills. You can search by bill or topic to see what is going on this session and in previous sessions.

Virginia Public Access Project:
https://www.vpap.org/
This is a bipartisan non-profit site that has a daily email that sends you the headlines from around VA. It is a great one to receive to read what is going on in our state. During session it does concentrate on what is going on in Richmond.

Lastly, there is an app that you can put on your phone called, Billblaster. Currently it is only available on iphones.

We look forward to seeing everyone on February 20th, 6pm, at the Library for the Mass Meeting. The official Call will be emailed and advertised in the Rappahannock Record.

Best regards,

Lancaster Republican Breakfast Meeting

On Saturday January 20, 30+ Republicans attended the Called Meeting at the Pilot House Restaurant in Topping, Virginia.  In lieu of the scheduled guest speaker (who was forced to cancel due to the weather emergency at his location), Bill Glover was asked to speak briefly on the status of the Texas border crisis.
Other matters discussed included support for state and national candidates, the upcoming Virginia Presidential Primary, and the Regan Day Dinner (to be held  in April).
