Constructed in 1735

We are an organization of Lancaster County Virginia citizens who are united in support of conservative Republican principles of government.
Lancaster County is a tract of land, creeks, and rivers at the southern tip of what is known as the “Northern Neck,” bordered by the Rappahannock and Potomac Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay.
In colonial times, settlers began arriving soon after 1640, and the county was founded in 1651. In 1742 an original Courthouse was moved from the banks of the Corrotoman River to an inland location (now Lancaster Courthouse on Route 3.) The old courthouse still stands today and provides space for county offices. The newer modern courthouse, built in 2010, stands next door, and contains the county records going back to 1651.
A 2019 estimate declared Lancaster’s population was 10,603
As Republicans, we are proud of this beautiful county. We want to help its citizens achieve good government, keep the peace, educate its children, and provide economic growth to support jobs and security for all its residents.
Our mission is providing the political organization to nominate, support and elect Republican officeholders, locally in the county, in its legislative jurisdictions and in statewide and national elections. We are officially a unit of the Republican Party of Virginia and abide by that organization’s Party Plan. We are also governed by a set of our own Bylaws and have regular monthly meetings.
We welcome YOU to join our ranks. There are two kinds of memberships, voting members and associate members. Voting members have an obligation to attend meetings and must pay annual dues. Associate members pay dues as well but have no obligation to attend meetings and do not vote on the committee’s issues. All members must be citizens of Lancaster County, be registered to vote, and support the principles of the Republican Party. All receive emailed meeting notices and are invited to take part in volunteer work.
Volunteers monitor local board of supervisors and school board meetings, help put up signs and distribute literature during campaigns, work on events such as our annual Reagan Day fund-raising dinners, and work at the polls on election day.
To join our committee, please see the Membership Application download button (on this page) and you can print out a copy, fill it out and bring it to the next meeting. Two current members in good standing need to sign the form endorsing your membership.
For more information on membership, please contact the committee chairman, Johanna Carrington or the Membership Chairman, Cathy Mecke
